ATAC: A RANDOMISED, DOUBLE-BLIND TRIAL COMPARING ARIMIDEX ALONE WITH NOLVADEX ALONE WITH ARIMIDEX AND NOLVADEX IN COMBINATION AS ADJUVANT TREATMENT IN POST-MENOPAUSAL WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER

This trial, performed in collaboration with AstraZeneca, aims to compare the effectiveness of Arimidex (an aromatase inhibitor), tamoxifen, or the combination of both in terms of recurrence and survival in post-menopausal women with operable breast cancer. A proportion of patients have participated in sub-protocols, namely Quality of Life, Endometrial Changes, Pharmacokinetics and Bone Mineral Density. The study is now closed to recruitment, with more than 9300 women in 21 countries.
